Snack time with no peanuts please!

Here is Hudson after trying peanut butter for this first time last week. The Dr wants him to gain a little weight and said peanut butter would be good to start with. Well, it didn't work out so well. It was cleared up within an hour or two, but was really scary. He was clawing at his eyes, I guess they were just itching so bad. We can try again in 6 months and see if he can handle it.

Look at that happy face! He is riding his new toy. His feet don't quite touch the ground, so we have to push him, Justin calls it a glute workout!

Last weekend Grandma & Grandpa came to help us work on the floors in the Dining Room and Hudson started this new thing. Acting like Grandma's hand is a plate and eating a snack out of it. So, the other night after his bath Justin was getting him all lotioned up and he started doing his new trick. This time he only wanted to eat out of Daddy's hand though.

Birthday & Family Pictures

A few weeks ago we had some family pictures taken and his 1 year pictures. Here are a few of our favorites:

For Hudson's birthday, we just had cupcakes for the 3 of us. Here is the progression of him eating a cupcake.

Mmm mmm Good!
There aren't many pictures of this week to post because Hudson has his first really bad cold. He had a high fever and was pretty sick, so we didn't get many pictures of him laying around. He is doing better now and almost completely well.
One of his favorite things to do right now is give kisses. He leans toward your cheek with his mouth open and makes a noise that we think sounds like "MWAW." It's really sweet, we get them first thing in the morning, at night before bed, and sometimes even at the grocery store.

Birthday Boy Blog

Today is Hudson's first birthday!
Justin took the day off work today, and we had a small party with the 3 of us. Here is Hudson opening one of his presents. He was not interested in opening the wrapping paper at all. We had to tear it for him.

Then the paper became much more interesting than the present.
Here he is riding his gift. It's a Little People Race Day car. He likes the little cars and people that go with it too.
He also got an Elmo remote, this was to try to get him to use his remote and not steal and hide ours under the furniture.
Opening his book from the Waters. I think this might have been his favorite gift because he kept trying to reach for it when playing with his other toys.
Happy 1st Birthday Hudson. We cannot tell you the joy you have brought to our lives. You have added so much to our family, and you are so loved by so many people. We waited for you and prayed for you for a long time. This year has gone by so fast, and I have been so blessed to spend time with you every single day! Since you are 1, I will name the 1 thing about you I love the most:
Your smile - It lights up any room; makes us happy when we are blue; it is usually followed by a goo, a made up word, or a laugh; your eyes smile when your mouth smiles too. You started smiling at 6 weeks old, and we hope you never stop.
Last weekend was Owens Thanksgiving, here are the 3 cousins. I loved this picture of them together!
Little Aubrey
The 3 of them playing together. He left the pink flower on his head for quite awhile that day. This just goes right along with my visions of them dressing him up in dresses, make up, jewelry, etc. when he gets a little older. But I am excited for all the fun they will have.
Evidence of our little Food Thief.
Exhibit A-
Exhibit B - Doesn't seem to be worried about getting caught.
Exhibit C - Pretty excited about being caught.

First Thanksgiving!

Here is what Hudson did on his first Thanksgiving, and hopefully also what he is thankful for...

Breakfast - Pumpkin Pancakes (He ate more than Justin and I combined-a whole banana, 2 handfuls of Cheerios, a cup of milk, and 2 whole pancakes. Where does he put all that?)

Watched the Macy's Parade on TV
Fell asleep on Mama after dancing to all the parade music. (I was REALLY thankful for this)
Ate a BIG Thanksgiving dinner
Here is the reaction to deviled eggs...
Still not sure what to think about all this new food.
He ended up cleaning his while tray and ate EVERY BITE in front of him, we refilled his tray about 3 or 4 times! He was wearing his Cowboys jersey to support the team!
We've been working on sign language at meal times, and today he signed Thank You, More and Milk. I'm not positive he knew exactly what Thank You is for, but he signed it when we did. I'm pretty sure he knows that the sign for milk gets him a drink, but not necessarily that it's milk.
Last Friday night playing with his truck.
I took this just because of the horns, this was after he woke up in the morning.

Right of Passage

As Justin says, eating dirt is just a right of passage into becoming a BOY! So, he passed! He ate the dirt by the handful right out of the flowerpots behind him. He made some funny faces trying to figure out what it was.

We weren't sure if he liked it or not Uh-oh Spaghettio!
Practicing his scared face after dinner. He likes to do this every night after he eats.
I guess we don't really need to buy toys because he usually plays more with random things around the house than his toys. Here are examples
SHOES
TUPPERWARE
Hudson is a major chatterbox these days! Here he is chatting it up after dinner. This was the same night as the Spaghetti pictures, but just after we stripped him down and wiped him off.

Pancakes, then a little dancing.

This Saturday morning when I made pancakes for Justin and I, Hudson got his own Hudson sized pancakes. He LOVED them, he practically stuffed the entire pancake in his mouth at one time.

After pancakes, he had to burn off all those carbs, so he did a little dancing. One of his favorite things to do. Even if it's just a short jingle on a commercial, it will at least get a head bob from him.

Another favorite obsession of Hudson's is the laptop. Justin gave in and turned everything off so he could play.

Hudson's Halloween in Oz!

We went to spend his first Halloween with Landon, Julie, Ashtyn & Aubrey this year in Oz (Burleson). Here are the kids in their costumes.
Ashtyn & Minnie- Dorothy with Toto
Aubrey - "Brave" Lion
Hudson - Flying Monkey
This is the top of his costume if he looked down, we didn't cover his face. There was a banana attached to his costume, every monkey needs a banana handy, especially since that's his favorite food.
The making of his costume was a combined effort this year between Justin and I, to make the vest, hat and wings.
Monkey ready to take off.

Lion was sitting and waiting patiently.
Ashtyn came up with all sorts of poses this year...
We started brushing his teeth this week. Here are pics of his first brushing with his Sesame Street toothbrush. He wasn't really sure what was going on, but he knew he wanted whatever that was in HIS hand.Nana - Here is Hudson practicing his "scared face" while eating.

Hudson turned 11 months old on Monday. Here is an update of what he is doing and into these days...
- Loves to eat crunchy things & cheese
- Anytime he hears music he dances and laughs
- He waves at people everywhere we go, even at cars passing by
- He claps when he hears or sees other people clapping
- We think he says "dog". He points to the dogs and says what sounds like dog
- He can transfer himself from furniture piece to furniture piece, but won't let go yet. But if he needs to clap or dance while holding on he will balance himself with his belly so he can have his hands free
- Crawls all over the house and gets faster everyday
See you next week!
